This one doesn't work well for me; there's very little contrast between the puffballs and the background. Maybe background tones could be adjusted with a color filter, or by angle or something?

What I did with this one was follow all the usual steps for processing an image, and then put a channel mixing layer on top of everything.

I agree there's not enough contrast between the puffballs and the background. What color filter do you think would help?

No idea; I don't know what the actual colors of anything much are. I was just thinking about ways to change the relative renderings, and that one, *if* the colors are distinct enough to give you any leverage, lets you change the tones without changing the angle. And also lets you do it in the existing image if the original is a color capture, which it sounds like.

If there's grass back there, magenta would darken it relative to other things, but I can't tell, and there are lots of other things back there too.

There's too much foreground detail to even consider masking, seems to me. Probably just as well.
