|12:23 am - Two from North Beach Park|
North Beach Park, Seattle
So where is this park exactly? Is it north of Golden Gardens?
I think 24th and 90th is pretty close to where Ron used to live.
I see a turtle emerging from the leaves in the second shot.
We'll just call you Nature Boy from now on.
Little nature, in little urban parks. Hah!
Fungus and evil ivy! I walk/run through Carkeet often because it has trails, with optional hills and a beach to contemplate at. But the ivy! It's everywhere all the way to the tops of trees. That tiny little fern and fungus are braving the despot ivy for crumbs of light and water. Persevere!
Oh and great photos!
I think Carkeek is one of Seattle's best parks. I love the trail the starts out at the side entrance, by the QFC, and goes down through the meadow to the sound. Yeah! And the beach is great, as well.
We took my in-laws there, because dad-in-law is a big train and ship buff. He really liked being able to sit on a log and wonder where the container ships were coming from or going to.
And, yes, that ivy is considered a noxious weed. Blech!
I live about 10 or 15 blocks south of that entrance to Carkeek thus it makes a really nice run from my door to the beach and back. Sometimes I head West and take the stairs at the end of 85th down to Golden Gardens and run that way but I like Carkeek better. On Sunday there were a few salmon braving their way up the Piper's Creek!
That first one is very, very cool.
Thank you! That's my favorite as well.
