Susan Docekal will see her state-subsidized Basic Health premium go up 57 percent, to $138, next month, because of a $9 billion state budget gap. Another $2.6 billion in cuts is expected this winter.

given what we know so far about the budget, i really worry about the state of this state in the coming year...
I think we're in seriously bad shape. We've had so much anti-tax propaganda the last 30 years or so, all of which has directly benefited already wealthy people, and that's a main reason we're in this hole. The proposed tax increases won't do much to overcome the losses.
And we still have Tim Eymann. Even though he's increasingly a failure, he keeps progressives disorganized and pouring money into opposing his initiatives.
I know somebody who has to drop their Basic Health plan this month because of the rise in the premium. It makes me sick at heart.
Poor dear. She should try COBRA at $400+ per month sometime.
I'm sorry. I know that's cynical. But I haven't had health insurance since last spring and am terrified of something happening to me. I wish I could find health insurance at $138.
Awesome portrait, though, Luke. Really.

I haven't had health insurance since 2003.
When I hear about what happened with Mark last summer, I know my path would be much simpler: I'd die.
