"Hipshots" is a generic term for photos taken without looking through the viewfinder or composing in advance (whether or not the camera was actually on your hip). You work with the surprises.
Portage Bay Big Band Dancers
(Okay, I composed this one.)
Interesting concept and the pictures have good things in them! I'm not surprised I didn't see you, but, perhaps, a bit disappointed.
These are lovely, Luke! I took hipshots in Kenya, specifically in Mombasa, and got some of my best that way.
The giant chicken was clearly just a bonus.
It's true, I didn't even know it was there. ;>
No, we did not. I'll give it a look -- thanks!
These are really wonderful. I wish I could use the hula hoops as a computer wallpaper.
One of my bigger surprises at the rock festival I went to last summer was the big hula hoop thing. Women dancing with half a dozen at a time . . .
It's getting more popular. There was someone trying them out. And the drummer circle at the Ballard Farmers Market always brings a few.
I think if a woman got into hula-hoop burlesque fire spinning on roller skates, she'd cover all the bases.
