Pausing to take pictures of some small flowers. In an empty lot. Just like it says.

Here's where I admit I'm a will-o-the-wisp when it comes to photography. If someone says they like a picture, I have to obsessively pursue that type of photo. For now, it's shadows and reflections.

It's amazing to see plants taking hold in the tiniest cracks of an otherwise desolate plain. Some of my favorite Hawaii pictures are of delicate green ferns rising up from a crack in an utterly black lava field. It seems impossible that they can survive in places like that.
But that last picture, oh!! I'm a total sucker for reflections AND shadows AND striking geometrics. Nice! Now I want to go to Hawaii! ;>
Glad you like the pictures, thanks! ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/106029774/1029603) | From: | duccio |

I think the first one is Red October hiding under the streets of Seattle. They drink a lot of Vodka; you can see, his eye is bloodshot. ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/46721543/2854335) | From: | kalimac |

Now that is the mind of a photographer speaking. I would obsessively read them all, and wouldn't notice the qualities of the arrangement until someone like you points it out. I wish I had read them now, to get a sense of what is considered worth posting. Did someone say road trip? Also, the building on the left side of the small flower photo was my place of employment for almost three years when I first moved to Seattle. I was going to say I don't have any good memories of the place, but I actually met Robyn there. Flowers in the wasteland seems very appropriate to my memories! Re: ... will-o-the-wisp... obsessively pursue that type of photo...
When I say that I like a picture, please do not pursue other pictures of that kind, or what you perceive as that kind. The pictures that speak to me and the reasons that they speak to me may not be something that you can understand and perhaps I cannot understand.
I have noticed a change in the composition of your photographs, and of the ones you posted here only the 2:37 p.m. contains the composition that I associate with and like best from you.
I happen to like shadows and reflections that are keenly captured in a way that hints at or tells a truth about the human or natural element of the original object, which of course does not appear, usually. It is truly Plato's Allegory of the Cave for me.
I would not have written about this except for you final comment. |
