As you may have guessed, Julie and I went to ... wait for it... the Roosevelt District Whole Foods last night.

Our original plan had been to go to the Bengal Tiger (our current favorite Indian restaurant, largely because of the Onion Bhajji (sp)), and get a couple appetizers, then go on to the Whole Foods (because it has Kiss My Face products) and get fixings for dinner, tomato sauce to use up the pork loin I made last week.

So far so good, but when we sat down, we decided to order entrees because we were hungry. Then we were full when we got to the store, but it's kind of a myth that shopping when you're full you buy less junk. Well, one thing that saved us is there's nothing worse than holistic tofu versions of junk food. Junk food should be junky dammit!

Then we came home and were too tired to make the dinner. Tonight is the night. Yeah!

Other than that, still going through my old photos. Some I'm copying to other places, to ignore there, some I'm keywording and metatagging, some I'm (gasp, splutter) deleting. The ones I'm especially prone to delete are the pollinator, rosebud, and cherry tree pictures from last spring. Hopefully, I'll take such pictures again this spring.

Pretty much everything else I'm saving. I'm often surprised, when I open a folder of images, how well I remember the expedition or other situation in which I took the pictures. I can sometimes remember the camera in my hand, or standing in the bed of my truck, or that people were watching me take pictures and only turned away when I brought the camera off my face. I'm happy to provide some entertainment. "I saw this guy taking pictures of nothing for what looked like five minutes." "Nothing? Really?" "No shit, just a buncha wires."

One thing I'm noticing is that I take fewer pictures. When I decide to take a picture, I'm a little more careful about framing and composing in the viewfinder before snapping. And there are some subjects I feel like I've just taken enough pictures of and don't need to photograph any more.

"...subjects I feel like I've just taken enough pictures of and don't need to photograph any more..."

I hear ya. Recently I've been wandering around in the snow and I'm thinking "yep, snow, been there, done that, me and the world's wife, so how the hell can I make snow pics interesting?" And it's a real struggle, but then if I don't take pics of the snow, there's bugger all else to shoot!

Did I tell you I reached 10,000 photos on my digital camera?

10,000 photos! Yikes! I don't think I'm there yet. Congratulations!

I know what you mean about becoming more selective about what you photograph. I'm sort of going through the same thing myself.
