I like to stand at the fence of a construction site and look up, up, up, at the cranes against the sky. I think of how graceful the crane’s movements are, shifting large, heavy burdens in three dimensions at once and placing them exactly in position, with no leftover momentum. And I think of how skilled the operator must be. The camera gives me an excuse to stand at the edge of the construction site, reaching up into the sky with my lens.
