5th & Yesler, Seattle
April, 2008
So this morning it seemed like a good idea to take a long lunch and stroll south down 5th Ave, making myself take pictures every few feet no matter what. By the time I crossed Jackson I was much calmer. Stepping into the Uwajimaya Food Court was like stepping into a grimy future -- as crowded and pulsating as Blade Runner, but drier. (Can't take pictures in Uwajimaya, I've tried.)
$18 of weird ramens and a bowl of chicken udon later, I realized all the voices were quiet. So I was ready to take a picture of this plant, when I saw it on my way back.
I wish I'd been able to get more of the stones into the bottom of the picture, but I couldn't get any lower on the sidewalk, my belly was in the way.
